Picturesquely located in one of the most desirable areas in Southern California, the Viceroy Santa Monica Hotel fuses classic sophistication and contemporary chic.  Located just steps from the city's distinctive boutiques, restaurants and beach activities, Viceroy Santa Monica offers advanced service in a most unique setting. 

The Bartender is responsible for preparing drinks in the lounge area according to established standards to ensure outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

General Responsibilities Include:

• Maintain a thorough knowledge of classic cocktail recipes, menu items, and any promotional activations
• Must ensure bartender accountability for liquor pours and cost control
• Basic knowledge of coffee beverages and use of espresso machine
• Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous manner
• Upsell food and beverage items to guests
• Be familiar with the organization of the restaurants, lounges, and room service areas
• Accurately maintain financial records and processes including closing checks and dropping money
• Basic knowledge of Banquets and high-volume service during events
• Maintain cleanliness of bar area, beer lockers, refrigerators and storage areas in accordance with federal, state, local and company codes
• Listen to, and promptly act to resolve, guest issues and requests
• Achieve maximum customer satisfaction

Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Must possess a positive attitude
• Must be service oriented
• Interpersonal communication skills is a must
• Must be a team player
• Knowledge of the practices within the Food & Beverage/Hospitality profession

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to walk and stand for up to eight (8) hours
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch
• Must be able to lift, push pull up to 15lbs. on a continuous basis
• Must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
• Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity

Qualification Standards:

Education: High school or equivalent education required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred

            Experience:

             Minimum of 2 years of luxury, boutique food & beverage experience in a similar position

Licenses or Certificates: ServSafe certification and RBS required 

Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
